Tapashi Mukherjee is currently a PhD candidate in Chemical Engineering at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. She has worked as a Research Assistant in RMIT University, with Prof Sati Bhattacharya, in the area of nanocomposite technology. She has received a bachelor’s degree in engineering (B.E) from Jadavpur University, India, in 2004. Her research interest include nanocellulose composites,biopolymer nanocomposites, polymer blends, rheology, polymer processing. Her current work is to develop surface functionalized nanocellulose based PLA biopolymer composites.

Mohd. Tahir Zafar, pursuing his Ph.D and working as a senior research scholar in “Centre for Polymer Science and Engineering” at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-Delhi). Currently, he is working as a visiting researcher in Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre (BDDC). He has M.Tech in “Polymer Science & Technology” from IIT-Delhi in 2009 and M.Sc in Chemistry from Bundelkhand University. His research area includes Polymer processing, Structure/Properties correlation, Materials characterization methods, Bio-polymers, Bio-composites, and Foamed biobased composites. His current research work involves the improvement of Polylactic acid (PLA) properties by the reinforcement of natural fibers and making foams of these composites.

Rocktotpal Konwarh, pursuing his Ph.D and senior research scholar in Chemical Science at Tezpur University. Currently, he is visiting researcher from DFAIT program to the Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre (BDDC). He has worked as an IASc-INSA-NASI summer research fellow at National Brain Research centre, Haryana in 2008. He has M.Sc degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from Tezpur University in 2008. His research interests include green nanotechnology, polymer bionanocomposite, biomolecule immobilization for industrial and biomedical niches, enzyme biotechnology and tissue engineering.

Claudio A. Toro (received his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering at University of Salamanca in 2008. He has a M.Sc in Chemical Engineering at University of Salamanca in 2005 and a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering in Chemical Engineering at University of La Frontera in 2002. His research interests include bioenergy, synthesis of polymeric materials and its applications. His current research involves use of microalgae oils for the development of bioenergy and biomaterials in a biorefinery process.)

Jineesh Ayippadath Gopi (a PhD candidate at the Indian institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, while working at the BDDC from April 2011 till September 2011. He received an M.Tech in rubber Technology from Indian institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India, and a MSc in Chemistry from Cochin University of Science & Technology, Cochin, Kerala, India. His research interests include Polymer blends and alloys, Polymer nanocomposites, and Polymer Rheology & Processing.)

Kunal Das (was a PhD Candidate at Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), Shibpur, Howrah, while he visited the BDDC from September 2010 to February 2011. He has previously earned an M.Tech in Materials Engineering, and a M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry. His exchange opportunity was provided by the Graduate Student Exchange Program (GSEP) Canada-India fellowship , which is funded by the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), and is provided the Canadian Bureau for International Education. His research interests include biocomposites from renewable resources, bionanocomposites, polymer nanocomposites, cellulose nanocomposites, and waste materials based blends and composites.)

Ramesh Petla (has a M.Sc. in Materials Science, and was a PhD Candidate while being a visiting scholar at the BDDC from November 2009 to November 2010. His exchange opportunity was provided by the Graduate Student Exchange Program (GSEP) Canada-India fellowship , which is funded by the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), and is provided the Canadian Bureau for International Education. His research interests include condensing matter physics, solid state ionics, and nanotechnology.)

Isaac Reyes (received his undergraduate degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of La Frontera, Chile in 2005. He then went on to complete his M.Sc. Applied Biotechnology at the University of La Frontera, Chile in 2007, and then a M.Sc. in Natural Recourses at the University of La Frontera, Chile in 2009. While working towards his PhD in Sciences of Natural Recourses at the University of La Frontera, Chile, he was a visiting scholar at BDDC from January 2010 to November 2010. His research interests include biofuels, management and revaluation of industrial waste, and bioprocess engineering. His current research involves biodiesel production and refining by membrane system from different oils.)

Shika Jain (a PhD Candidate from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, while being a visiting scholar at the BDDC from September 2009 March 2010. Her exchange opportunity was provided by the Graduate Student Exchange Program (GSEP) Canada-India fellowship , which is funded by the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), and is provided the Canadian Bureau for International Education.Her research interests include the synthesis of green nano composits and blends.)

Professor Satyanarayan (Dr. N. Satyanarayan is Professor of Physics, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry, India, and was a visiting professor at the BDDC in the summer of 2010. He received his Ph.D. (1984) in Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India. His research interest is development of various types of nano-Crystalline & nano-composite Materials in different forms like, powders, spheres, rods, wires, etc. by sol-gel, combustion processes, polyol techniques for various applications, with special interest towards the development of high energy density rechargeable Lithium batteries. Prof. Satyanarayan executed more than fifteen research projects funded by Govt. of India and also published more than 75 papers in International journals and presented more than 100 papers in National and International conferences/symposia/workshops.)
