Postdoctoral Fellow positions available

The Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre (BDDC) at the University of Guelph, seeks highly motivated researchers for Postdoctoral Fellow positions to support and advance research activities at the BDDC. Specific positions available at present time are:

·   Renewable bio-carbon and carbonaceous thermoplastic biocomposites (1 position); Knowledge and experience in carbonaceous reactive extrusion, injection moulding and compatibilizer use, as well as knowledge of structure and processing properties correlation are preferred for this position.

·   Thermoformed bio-based plastic and biocomposites (1 position); Prior experience in extruded sheet forming and thermoforming of bio-based plastic and biocomposites, as well as knowledge of structure and processing properties correlation (focus on barrier performance) are preferred for this position.​​

·   Sustainable cast and blown films (1 position); Prior experience in reactive extrusion and melt processing of cast and blown films for bio-based plastics and biocomposites for sustainable packaging. Prior knowledge and experience in reactive extrusion, film making barrier evaluation and structure property processing correlation are required.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with senior scientists from different areas (materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, polymer chemistry, packaging and plant agriculture) and will have the chance to work collaboratively with industrial partners.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in the field of Engineering and Science (polymer engineering/ chemistry/ material science), or a related discipline.

Expected start date:  Negotiable

Duration of the contract: one year, with possible extension for additional year.

Salary: 38,000 - 45,000 per annum, plus benefits
