2020-09-09

BDDC researchers (3) presented at the 2020 SPE ACCE Virtual Annual Meeting, which took place from September 9 to 11, 2020.

The SPE Automotive and Composites Divisions jointly sponsor the annual Automotive Composites Conference & Exhibition (ACCE). This event is designed to educate and update automotive design and production engineers, sales personnel, and management from transportation OEMs and Tier suppliers about the benefits and expanding importance of thermoset and thermoplastic composites in passenger vehicles, light trucks, and other ground transportation applications. ACCE is the world’s leading automotive composites forum. The event provides excellent networking opportunities and draws over 800 speakers, exhibitors, and attendees from the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

The BDDC researchers communicated 1 Panel Discussion and 2 Oral Presentations.

Professor Mohanty participated in the panel entitled, "Sustainable Materials Management and the Circular Economy", and was joined by Dr. Debbie Mielewski (Ford), Sanjay Jain (DSM), Kanchana Sonti (HP), Thomas McKay (BASF), and Mitchell Toomey (BASF).

Maisyn Picard, MASc Student, presented her research live on "Sustainable Composites from Biobased Engineering Thermoplastic
and Biobased Filler for Automotive Parts".

Ethan Watt, Undergraduate Student, shared a recorded presentation on "Influence of Soy Hull Based Biocarbon and Graphene Nanoplatelets on the Performance of Polypropylene Biocomposites for Automotive Applications".
